DEXLO stands as a bold statement in the heart of Austin’s tech corridor—a sleek commercial complex that combines functionality with striking contemporary design. Envisioned as a flexible workspace hub for startups and creative agencies, DEXLO offers a dynamic blend of open-plan offices, co-working areas, and collaborative zones. The building’s exterior is a fusion of glass, steel, and geometric precision, reflecting both the energy of its tenants and the modernity of the city it resides in.

Every aspect of DEXLO was designed to support productivity and innovation. Natural light floods the interiors through floor-to-ceiling windows, while smart zoning creates adaptable workspaces that cater to diverse business needs. With advanced HVAC systems, green energy integrations, and acoustic design elements, the environment remains comfortable and quiet—even in its busiest corners.

Design Challenges

Designing DEXLO required balancing form with high functionality on a tight urban plot. The challenge was to maximize usable space without sacrificing the building’s visual impact or sustainability goals. The team had to work around strict zoning regulations and noise pollution from the nearby highway. To address this, innovative acoustic paneling and strategic sound buffers were incorporated. Additionally, integrating large glass facades with energy efficiency demanded a custom-engineered curtain wall system—ensuring that the design remained sleek while reducing heat gain and maintaining thermal comfort.

Another major challenge was the need for phased construction without disturbing the surrounding businesses. With neighboring properties operating during the build, scheduling logistics had to be meticulously planned. Deliveries, noise-intensive tasks, and heavy equipment movement were coordinated in off-hours or weekends to minimize disruption. Temporary barriers and detailed safety protocols were put in place to protect both workers and the public.

The DEXLO project also required the integration of complex smart building systems, including automated lighting, temperature control, and security features. Coordinating between multiple vendors and ensuring seamless connectivity between software and physical systems meant the design team had to stay agile throughout the construction phase. Achieving this level of tech integration within a modern architectural envelope demanded close collaboration and precision.
